ISLAMABAD: Today (Friday) is being observed as a day of mourning in Pakistan to express solidarity with the Palestinians who were victims of Israeli brutality after the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. This decision was made yesterday in the consultative meeting of the allied parties regarding the deteriorating situation in Palestine. In a joint statement chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was decided to perform funeral prayers of Haniya in absentia across the country after Friday prayers.The Prime Minister described the Israeli atrocities on the helpless Palestinians as a tragedy for the Islamic world.Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also announced a day of mourning on Friday in memory of the slain leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.”Today will be declared a national day of mourning in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and our Palestinian brothers and sisters,” Erdogan said in a social media post today.
